| 20% MORE - GIVE ME TEN 2007 - VIRGINIA |
On 16 October 2007, we were about 80% through the year (20% to go) and Virginia chapters of MOAA were clearly the leader US-Wide in the Give Me Ten program. MOAA is offering Virginia an additional incentive to increase Give Me Ten numbers by 20% by the end of the year.
IF VIRGINIA-WIDE WE OBTAIN AT LEAST A 20% INCREASE IN MEMBERSHIP:
ANY CHAPTER OBTAINING 20% MORE GIVE ME TENS (since 16 Oct 2007) will go into a drawing pool for 4 DAYS IN WASHINGTON DC FOR MOAA STORMING THE HILL. The winning chapter would be able to send one couple to this event which includes three nights in a hotel, all meals, attendance at a major MOAA luncheon and dinner, the Congressional Cocktail/Heavy Buffet Reception at the Capitol, Storming of the Hill and all related events. Spouse will be able to attend the tours set up for attending spouses. All complementary!
We are very grateful that national MOAA will continue to recognize the unique and exemplary record of achievement of Virginia Chapters in the 2007 Give Me 10 Program. COL Bill Flanagan discussed the goal of approximately 200 more members with VCOC Membership Chair - LTC Paul Mehler and with COL Bob Barrett who manages the Southside Chapter's Special Quartermaster School project that has brought in over 600 members so far this year. They believe Virginia can reach 1,200 before the end of the year if we all continue to work together.
Based on the aforementioned, VCOC asks each chapter to stay engaged and to set a minimum 20% increase target using the October 16th national MOAA report as the official base line. A chapter at 10 would reach the goal by adding only 2 more members; a chapter at 25 would reach the 20% goal with 5 additional members, etc.
Give Me Tens recruited by chapters continue to earn the $10 stipend.
Five of our chapters are still in the running for $1,000 bonus (if they have the most Give Me Tens in their size category at the end of the year).
Virginia chapters are all setting the example for 400 some MOAA chapters nationwide to follow. You have obtained outstanding results, received recognition - The Great Give Me 10 Dinner - but, and of great importance, you are also demonstrating you are still in the game.

| A PAGE FOR YOUR NEWSLETTER: The document below (in Word Software) is a Give Me Ten page, developed by VCOC PAO, that can be adapted easily for your Chapter Newsletter or go out to your Chapter email list. The chapter-unique parts are in green bolded, mostly underlined for fill in the blank. Photo is color, but can easily be printed black and white, or chapters may replace with a photo of their own. The photo and caption in the text box can also be removed to give more space for other information in chapter newsletters. You may also want to recommend to your members that a GIFT OF membership would be a nice thing to pass on to eligible relatives serving on active duty, in the Guard or Reserves. I gave my son and son-in-law memberships and they appreciated the little thanks for their service during wartime.

NEED 50 MORE Mid December we learned that there were fewer classes at Fort Lee than expected in December. So, Southside chapter was not able to reach their 20% increase (Southside has the largest numbers). So, if Virginia was to make the 20% increase overall, other chapters needed to help by exceeding their 20% increase amount.
