39 STARS OF EXCELLENCE IN 2009

MOAA awarded 2009 flag streamers for excellence in 2008.

The 4-star award went to Virginia's Northern Neck Chapter.

Seven Virginia chapters received 5-star awards:
George C. Marshall, Hampton Roads, Mount Vernon, Potomac, Richmond Area, Southside Virginia and Virginia Peninsula Chapters.

MOAA presented the award/streamers at the President's Conference in Hershey Pennsylvania and paid for attendance of 5-star chapter presidents to again be presented with the streamers at the MOAA  Annual Meeting & Year of the Chapter Dinner in San Diego.

Virginia's 35 Stars!

MOAA's Admiral Norb Ryan recognized Virginia's seven chapters receiving 5-star level of excellence awards for 2007 activities, by providing 2008 flag streamers.  Virginia Council of Chapters (VCOC) again leads in number of five-star awards – well ahead of even those states with more chapters.  This photo was taken at the MOAA Give Me Ten 2008 appreciation dinner, held at the Boars Head Inn, Charlottesville Virginia, Oct 24, 2008.  Shown from left to right are:

1.  LTC James Dellaripa, USAF, Ret, President Hampton Roads Chapter, Norfolk & Virginia Beach.

3. COL Jerry Lazzaro, USA, Ret, Chapter Rep, Potomac Chapter.

4. Vice Admiral Norb Ryan, USN, Ret, President of MOAA.

VIRGINIA 30 STARS - MOAA EXCELLENCE AWARDS - 2007 Streamers for Excellence in 2006
6 Chapters Receive 5-star Level of Excellence Awrd.

Five-Star Level-of-Excellence-Award streamers are displayed on the flags of six Virginia chapters of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA).  The Excellence Awards are given for chapter excellence in 2006.  The streamers are dated 2007 (when the awards are presented).  The awards were presented individually at the Virginia Council of Chapters (VCOC) meeting Oct 12, 2007 by MOAA Marketing Director, COL Mike Jordan.  Then these group award photos were taken the next night outside the Williamsburg Inn, where the MOAA Give Me Ten Appreciation Dinner was held.  It's no coincidence that the 5-star chapters did well at the MOAA Give Me Ten campaign as well.
