Proposed 2012 VCOC-wide goals & objectives will be presented at January 2012 VCOC meeting.
Chapters show status of 2011 goals in their quarterly reports. Committee chairs provide Virginia-wide reports at VCOC meetings.

VCOC LEADERSHIP GOALS (2010 & 2011)

OBJECTIVES 2010-2011

LEGISLATIVE:
-
Increase grass roots support at national/state level. (“Grass roots support” means the number of people who contact their legislators).
-
Increase chapter legislative team members to at least 3 per chapter.
- All Legislative liaisons meet with each Virginia US Senator or Representative at least once each year to discuss VCOC and MOAA national legislative objectives.
- Every Chapter meet with all state senators/delegates from their area prior to start of the General Assembly.

Increase attendance at Storming of Hill and Congressional luncheon by 10% with representation from every chapter

Use a VCOC alert system for state objectives during the General Assembly with a “counter” to show strength of grass roots support.

Send VCOC National Objectives to Hqs MOAA (Adm. Ryan) as “consolidated input” per the new Council/Chapter guide
RECRUITING:
1. Increase chapter membership per year *
2. Win the “Night Out With MOAA”
3. Every chapter has a designated Membership Chair. * 4. Continue Gold Bar program to include all participating Virginia colleges with an ROTC program..
PUBLIC AFFAIRS* :
- Every Virginia chapter establishes a member to work with the media locally and serve on VCOC Public Affairs committee.
- Each Virginia chapter has at least one news story published locally each year, in civilian and/or military newspaper and/or radio or other media.

Publish Legislative issues/events: a) VCOC arranges for reporters to attend Storming Richmond & Congressional Luncheon. b) Chapters submit local news release / articles to local reporters.
c) VCOC assists chapters & reporters, icluding by providing templates/draft stories.
CHAPTER VITALITY AND LEVELS OF EXCELLENCE:
1. All chapters do a Self Evaluation at least annually.(App. O, Council/Chapters Policy & Procedures Guide)
2. Improve attendance at VCOC quarterly meetings. Every chapter represented at every meeting.
3. Increase the number of 5 Star Chapters from 7 to 10 for 2010.
