13 JULY 2007 QUARTERLY VCOC MEETING - In Lexington
VCOC 13 July 2007 Meeting – Super Venue – Super Meeting:

In a change of pace from our Fort Lee venue, the George C. Marshall MOAA Chapter and George C. Marshall Foundation hosted our July VCOC Meeting at the Marshall Foundation, on the site of a Virginia treasure – the VMI Post.  The two-day event included a reception in the Marshall Museum, dinner at a great restaurant, lunch in VMI’s historic Moody Hall, with remarks by BG Wes Taylor President of the Marshall Foundation and recognition of COL Nile Horn’s service to the nation, and guided tours of the Marshall Museum and VMI Post. We are very grateful to our hosts for their superb efforts that made this a memorable occasion.  With so much on our agenda, our Legislative Committee started their portion of the meeting 1½ hours early to finalize our 2008 General Assembly objectives and refine our national objectives.  The Give Me 10 Report showed Virginia leading the nation and virtually assured of a national MOAA hosted dinner at the Williamsburg Inn. We approval a $1,000 contribution for the VA War Memorial Education Center and laid the groundwork for future support for this vital program.  We were pleased to hear a progress report for the VCOC October bi-annual meeting hosted by VIPMOAA, and plans for the new Legacy Chapter.  It was a great meeting with great attendance and full participation from all 15 VCOC Chapters.  Thanks for your support.

/  Bill Flanagan, COL, USA, Ret, VCOC President
