Instead of meeting in April,  the 2nd 2008 quarterly meeting of the VCOC/MOAA was Friday, March 14th, 2008, in advance of the April 2008 Virginia Congressional Luncheon.

The Richmond meeting location was arranged by VCOC Secretary, Jim Brown, COL, USA, Ret.  Directions were provided on page 11 (Secretary Musings) of March 2008 Council Crier (printed and web editions).  COL Brown mailed a sketch map to VCOC reps. COL Brown and his wife, June, arranged for the meals as well.

Scroll down for more photos and general information.

The meeting is, as usual, was from 10 AM to 2:30 PM.

Quarterly (written) reports, which are usually due prior to the meeting, were due after, since they close out the end of March.  But chapters provided short verbal reports as usual.

Minute-man award to MOAA officer approved.
The winner is a secret.  Statue, with honoree's name added to the plaque, will be presented at the Virginia Congressional Luncheon 16 April 2008.  COL Sam Wilder, VCOC VP, chaired the nominating committee.

Give Me 10 program was briefed by LTC Paul Mehler, VCOC 2nd VP, the 3rd person pictured in the photo at left.  LTC Mehler also presented an idea for consideration that VCOC ask MOAA, instead of the Give Me Ten recognition luncheon, to contribute the dollars they would have spent on it (for Virginia) to the Virginia War Memorial.  This suggestion will be voted on at the July VCOC quarterly meeting.

The next VCOC quarterly meeting will be July 11th, hosted by the Central Virginia Chapter.  COL Hank Shelton briefed the tentative plans, for the meeting to be held at the club of a gated community in the Charlottesville area.  The VCOC voted yes to holding the meeting there, at a cost to each person attending of $20, plus room cost of $250.
