OPTIONAL SUNDAY BRUNCH, OCT 14TH:
Attendees were encouraged to enjoy Sunday brunch before heading home, at one of these locations - or there are many others.
Yorktown Coast Guard Station's club, called "Port of York" (757) 856-2286/2106 has a fabulous brunch ($14 plus tip) with a lovely view. It's generally busy and crowded, with a line from the time they open. Reservations made only for groups of ten or more, and reserved folks must be there for the 10 AM opening. Photo at right shows the Flanagans, Mallisons and Kaisermans at this location, along with a newly recruited Give Me Ten member. (Coast Guard).
Fort Monroe Bay Breeze Community Center has a champaign brunch from 11 AM to 2 PM, including your coffee, juice, champaign, made-to-order omlets, ballroom dance music by Roberto, a dance floor, and a lovely view of the Chesapeake Bay. Food is good, but not-fancy. Cost is currently only $11 plus tip. You may make reservations in advance by calling (757) 788-4226.
Williamsburg - The old Fort Magruder Inn, now called Crown Plaza, has a famous, though more expensive, Sunday brunch. The hotel is on very historical property, still containing redoubts from the Civil War. 6945 Pocahontas Trail (Route 60 West) (757) 220-2250.
