DIRECT MEMBER ASSIGNMENT PILOT PROGRAM In Virginia & Texas - to Build Chapter Membership 15 Nov MOAA released spreadsheet data to nine Virginia chapters, of 54 directly-assigned MOAA members.
GIVE ME TEN MOAA program with incentives for chapters to recruit National MOAA members. _ Virginia chapters have recruited 705 people as of early November. We are low in paid recruits. To earn the "Night Out with MOAA" 14 of our 18 chapters must earn at least five paid rebates. _ There is still the month of December for the 2011 program. Make a concerted effort to help the VCOC to earn this prestigious prize by pushing "life membership conversions" and identifying, personall contacting and "reinstating" chapter members with lapsed MOAA memberships. _ Virginia-wide, chapters & VCOC earned, in rebates and bonuses, $8,930

| PAGE 7 - PUBLICITY - PRESS - PUBLIC AFFAIRS and LEGISLATVE (STATE) continued from previous page
PUBLIC AFFAIRS by Melva Mallison, Maj, USAF, Ret When out there doing great things, remember to: bring a camera (and take pictures); wear red, white and blue, MOAA badge and chapter name tag; dash off a news release to local newspapers and other media. Include photo if possible.
_ Chapters set a goal to improve publicity and objectives to appoint a person to handle their publicity (such as a Public Affairs Officer - PAO) and to publish at least one news story each year in local media. _ Chapter quarterly VCOC reports indicate (in Public Affairs Section) what news releases were submitted for publication and which were published. Please list by headline or topic. _ Publishing does help with recruiting and retention as well as energizing chapter members to be involved. _ Public Affairs can also further our legislative agenda, but be sure not to endorse a political party or candidate on behalf of MOAA, your chapter or VCOC.
